Short answer: For a local business, Google Ads works best as a focused Search campaign for the services you sell, shown only to people in your area, with call and location assets, a fast landing page and call and form tracking. Start with a small set of high intent keywords such as “dentist near me” or “AC repair Gulshan”, add negative keywords from day one, and make sure someone answers the phone during ad hours.

Why Search first

People searching “emergency plumber” or “best dental clinic in Dhanmondi” need help now. Search ads put you in front of them at that moment. Display, YouTube and Demand Gen can support brand awareness later, but Search usually brings the first profitable leads.

Step 1: pick high intent keywords

Keyword typeExampleIntent
Service plus locationdental implant DhakaHigh
Near meAC repair near meHigh
Urgentemergency electricianVery high
Priceteeth whitening priceMedium to high
Researchhow to fix a leaking tapLow, often skip

Use phrase and exact match to begin with, grouped into ad groups by service.

Step 2: set location correctly

  • Target a radius or the areas you serve.
  • Change the location option to Presence, so people outside your area who only show interest do not see your ads.
  • Exclude areas you cannot serve.

Step 3: add local assets

  1. Call asset with your phone number and business hours.
  2. Location asset linked to your Google Business Profile, so your address and map can show.
  3. Sitelinks to key services, reviews and contact pages.
  4. Callouts such as same day service, free quote or licensed team.

Step 4: build a page that converts

Send each service to a matching page, not the homepage. The page should load fast on mobile, show the phone number at the top, list prices or a clear quote process, show real reviews and include a short form.

Step 5: track calls and forms

Track form submissions, calls from ads and calls from your website. Without tracking, Smart Bidding cannot learn which keywords bring customers.

Budget and bidding

Start with a daily budget you can keep for at least a month. Begin with Maximize clicks with a bid limit or Maximize conversions once tracking is in place. After you have a steady number of conversions, consider Target CPA.
