Offline conversions from GoHighLevel to Google Ads

A web analytics case study: sending qualified leads and booked jobs from GoHighLevel back to Google Ads, so bidding optimised for real customers instead of form fills.

The challenge

The business ran Google Ads for lead generation and optimised toward form submissions. Many of those leads were never qualified and never became paying jobs, but Google Ads had no way of knowing which clicks produced real revenue.

As a result, Smart Bidding kept chasing cheap form fills. The CRM, GoHighLevel, knew which leads turned into booked jobs, but that information never made it back to the ad platform.

This is one of the projects behind the $25M+ in sales that Saifur Saif, a digital marketing specialist in Bangladesh, has helped generate through Google Ads and Meta Ads. Client details are kept confidential.

The approach

Audit, track, launch and test, then scale and report: the same process used on every project.

Audit

Mapped the full journey from ad click to form fill, qualification, booking and paid job, and checked what was captured in Google Ads, GA4 and GoHighLevel at each stage.

Track

Captured the Google click ID (GCLID) with every lead and stored it in GoHighLevel, so each lead could be matched back to the exact ad click that created it.

Launch & test

Set up offline conversion imports that send qualified leads and booked jobs, with values, from GoHighLevel back to Google Ads, and tested the matching end to end.

Scale & report

Switched bidding toward value-based conversions and reported on cost per qualified lead and cost per booked job in a Google Data Studio dashboard.

The outcome

Result

Google Ads now learns from the leads that matter: qualified enquiries and booked jobs, not every form fill. Reporting shows the true cost of acquiring a customer, and bidding can focus on the searches and campaigns that produce real revenue.

Key takeaways for your business

  • Optimising for form fills alone can attract low-quality leads.
  • Offline conversion imports connect CRM outcomes back to ad clicks.
  • Value-based bidding helps Google find more of your best customers.
  • Cost per booked job is a more useful metric than cost per lead.

Questions about this project

Quick answers related to this case study.

What are offline conversions in Google Ads?
Offline conversions are actions that happen after the click, such as a qualified lead or a signed deal, that are imported back into Google Ads so bidding can optimise for them.
Can GoHighLevel send conversions to Google Ads?
Yes. By capturing the GCLID with each lead, GoHighLevel outcomes can be sent back to Google Ads as offline conversions.
What is value-based bidding?
Value-based bidding tells Google Ads how much each conversion is worth, so it bids more for clicks likely to become high-value customers.
Can Saifur Saif set up offline conversion tracking?
Yes. CRM and offline conversion tracking are part of his web analytics and Google Ads services. Book a free strategy call.
