Short answer: At Advertising Week New York on 6 October 2026, Meta announced a batch of AI ad tools. Two are available to all advertisers now: Customer Lifecycle Strategy, which lets you tell Meta whether a campaign is for new customers, existing customers or both, and Advantage+ creative video generation, which turns your static images into video ads. Ads Creative Studio is expanding to more advertisers, while the most talked-about feature, an AI assistant that changes your targeting and budgets for you, is announced but not yet widely available. For most eCommerce brands, the smart move right now is to set your customer lifecycle goal on every campaign and start testing image-to-video creative.
Meta releases new ad features almost every month, and it is easy to lose track of what you can actually use today. This guide sorts the Advertising Week 2026 announcements into what is live, what is still being tested, and what it means for brands running Facebook and Instagram ads.

1. Customer Lifecycle Strategy: the one to use today
This is the most useful announcement for eCommerce brands, and it is already available. Customer Lifecycle Strategy lets you define who a campaign is really for. If a campaign is meant to win new customers, you can say so, and Meta’s recommendations and changes follow that goal instead of quietly spending your budget on people who already buy from you.
That matters because Meta’s delivery system finds the cheapest conversions it can, and your existing customers are usually the cheapest. A campaign can report a strong ROAS while mostly reselling to people who would have bought anyway. Separating new customer acquisition from retention gives you a truer picture of growth.
What to do: decide the job of each campaign, set the lifecycle goal to match, and keep your customer lists up to date so Meta knows who is existing and who is new. Then compare new customer numbers, not just total purchases. My guide to ROAS vs MER vs CAC explains which numbers to watch.
2. Video ads from static images
Advantage+ creative can now generate video from the static images you already have, and it is generally available. For brands without a video team, this is a quick way to get more video into Reels and Stories placements, where static images often struggle.
What to do: treat AI-generated video as a test, not a replacement for real creative. Run it alongside your existing ads, check every generated video before it goes live, and turn off anything that misrepresents your product. If it wins, keep it. If not, it has cost you very little. My Facebook ad creative testing guide shows how to test new creative without disrupting what already works.
3. Ads Creative Studio is reaching more advertisers
Ads Creative Studio launched earlier in 2026 for selected partners and is now expanding. It uses your performance data and audience insights to show what is working, and adds tools to generate new video concepts and edit hooks, audio, clip length, text overlays, captions and end scenes. It may not be in your account yet, but it is worth checking every few weeks.
4. The AI assistant that edits your campaigns
Meta’s business assistant is getting more memory and context, including what you tried last quarter, your seasonality and the goals you have described, according to Marketing Dive. Meta also announced that the assistant will be able to generate creative, update targeting and change budgets through simple chat prompts, with brand guideline import and scheduled reports in testing.
This is the headline feature, but it is the one to approach most carefully. An assistant that can change budgets can also undo weeks of learning in one prompt. When it reaches your account, use it for reports and ideas first, and keep big budget and targeting decisions in your own hands until you have seen how it behaves. My guide on how to scale Meta Ads without killing ROAS explains why sudden changes hurt performance.
5. Shopping and checkout inside Meta
Meta announced simple videos generated from catalog listings, related product recommendations for upselling, direct checkout for Shopify products inside Messenger conversations, and a test of checkout inside Meta AI with Adyen, PayPal, Shopify and Stripe. Together these point in one direction: Meta wants more of the purchase to happen inside its apps. For now, most of these are early, so keep your focus on a clean catalog and a fast website checkout.
What eCommerce brands should do this month
- Set a lifecycle goal on every campaign. Decide which campaigns are for new customers and which are for retention, and report them separately.
- Test image-to-video creative. Add generated videos to one campaign as a controlled test and review each one before it runs.
- Fix your tracking first. Every one of these AI tools learns from your conversion data. If the Pixel and Conversions API are not sending accurate purchases, the AI optimises for the wrong thing. Start with Meta Pixel vs Conversions API.
- Keep your structure simple. AI-driven delivery works best with fewer, larger campaigns. See how to structure Meta Ads for eCommerce.
- Do not hand over the budget yet. When the assistant’s editing tools arrive, test them on small campaigns first.
