Run Facebook Ads From Bangladesh: Payment, Budget, Tips

How to run Facebook ads from Bangladesh in 2026: bKash and card payments, BDT vs USD currency, VAT, budgets, local targeting and avoiding restrictions.

By Saifur Saif, Google Ads & Meta Ads Specialist · 14 Sep 2026 · 8 min read

Short answer: To run Facebook ads from Bangladesh you need a Meta ad account, a payment method Meta accepts, and a clear budget. For years that meant an international or dual-currency card, but since September 2026 businesses can also add bKash as a payment method in their Meta ads billing settings. Pick your account currency carefully, because it is hard to change later, and keep your account clean to avoid restrictions. Taxes on ad payments can apply, so confirm the current rules with an accountant.

This guide is for Bangladeshi business owners, sellers and freelancers who want to run Facebook and Instagram ads properly, whether you sell inside Bangladesh or to customers abroad.

How to run Facebook ads from Bangladesh: the setup checklist

Before you spend a single taka, get the basics right. A clean setup prevents most of the problems people face later.

  1. Use a real, established personal profile with your real name, and turn on two-factor authentication.
  2. Create a business portfolio in Meta Business Suite (Business Manager) and add your Facebook Page and Instagram account to it.
  3. Create an ad account inside the business portfolio. Choose the time zone and currency carefully (more on currency below).
  4. Add a payment method in Billing and payments, using a card or account in your own or your business’s name.
  5. Install the Meta Pixel and Conversions API if you have a website, so Meta can learn who buys. See Meta Pixel vs Conversions API.
  6. Start with a small test budget and increase slowly once results are stable.

Avoid using the “Boost post” button as your main way of advertising. Ads Manager gives you proper objectives, conversion tracking and reporting.

Payment methods that work for Bangladeshi advertisers

Payment has always been the biggest barrier for advertisers in Bangladesh. Here are the main options as of October 2026.

1. bKash (new in 2026)

On 10 September 2026, a local payment option for Meta ads was launched in Dhaka. According to The Business Standard, businesses can now add bKash as a payment method through their Meta ads account settings, removing the previous need for a foreign-currency-enabled credit card. This is a big change for small sellers and first-time advertisers.

New payment options often roll out gradually. If you do not see bKash, check what Meta shows in your Billing settings for your ad account, and check again later.

2. International or dual-currency cards

A Visa or Mastercard enabled for international payments is still the most common way to pay. Many Bangladeshi banks offer dual-currency cards. Things to check with your bank:

  • Whether online international transactions are enabled on the card.
  • Your yearly dollar limit (endorsement) and how to increase it.
  • Any fees or charges the bank adds on foreign payments.
  • That the card name matches the ad account owner or business.

3. Prepaid funds

Some ad accounts can add money in advance and let ads spend from that balance, which Meta calls prepaid funds. Whether you see this option depends on your country, currency and payment method. Meta keeps a list of accepted payment options, but the final word is what appears in your own Billing settings.

What I recommend: pay with a method in your own name or your company’s name. Renting someone else’s card or ad account is a common cause of disabled accounts and lost money, and you have no control if something goes wrong.

BDT or USD: which account currency should you choose?

You choose the currency when you create the ad account. Changing it later is possible, but it is extra work, so it is worth deciding now. Meta explains the steps on its page about changing the currency you use for Meta ads.

ChooseWhen it makes sense
BDTYou sell inside Bangladesh, report in taka, and pay with a local method. Budgets and costs are easier to compare with your sales.
USDYou sell abroad, report in dollars, or pay with a dollar card. Costs line up with international reporting and clients.

The simple rule: match the account currency to the payment method you will actually use and the currency you report sales in. Before creating the account, check which payment methods Meta offers for that currency in Billing settings. If you manage ads for foreign clients as a freelancer or agency, the ad account should usually belong to the client, in the client’s currency, with the client’s payment method.

VAT and tax on Facebook ads in Bangladesh

Tax on payments to foreign ad platforms has been in place in Bangladesh for years. In 2019, Bangladesh Bank told banks to collect 15% VAT on payments to Facebook, Google, YouTube and other foreign advertising platforms, as reported by Prothom Alo. The rates and rules have been revised in later budgets, and they can differ depending on how you pay and whether you pay as an individual or a company.

I could not find a single reliable, current official summary for 2026, so I will not quote a rate here. Check the current VAT and income tax rules with your accountant, and ask your bank what it deducts on foreign ad payments. Add the answer to your budget so tax does not eat into your margin unexpectedly.

How much budget do you need?

There is no fixed minimum that guarantees results. Instead of picking a number at random, work backwards:

  1. Decide how much you can afford to pay for one order or one lead and still make a profit.
  2. Set a daily budget that can realistically buy several of those results per week, so Meta has data to learn from.
  3. Run for at least a week before judging. Daily results swing a lot.
  4. Increase budget in steady steps when cost per result stays within your target.

Local targeting tips for Bangladesh

  • Write in the language your buyers use. Test Bangla, English and mixed copy. Many buyers respond better to natural, everyday Bangla than to formal text.
  • Use location targeting with care. If you only deliver inside Dhaka or a few cities, target only those areas. Paying for orders you cannot deliver wastes money.
  • Keep audiences broad and let creative do the work. Meta’s automation finds buyers better when you do not narrow targeting too much.
  • Plan for messages if you sell through Messenger or WhatsApp. Click-to-message ads work well for many local shops, but reply fast. Slow replies kill conversions.
  • Track confirmed orders, not just messages. With cash on delivery, many conversations or orders never turn into paid sales. Track which ads bring confirmed and delivered orders.
  • Selling abroad? Target the countries you ship to or serve, and run ads in their time zone and currency.

Common account restriction issues and how to avoid them

Restricted or disabled ad accounts are a frequent complaint from Bangladeshi advertisers. The usual causes are avoidable:

  • Payment failures. A declined card or exhausted dollar limit can pause or restrict the account. Keep enough limit and settle balances quickly.
  • Name or identity mismatches. A card in someone else’s name, a fake profile or a new profile with no history raises flags.
  • Suspicious logins. Logging in from many devices, shared logins and frequent VPN use can look like a hacked account.
  • Policy violations. Misleading claims, before-and-after health promises, restricted products and fake urgency get ads rejected. Repeated rejections can restrict the account. Read Meta’s Advertising Standards before you launch.
  • Spending too fast on a new account. Raise budgets gradually on a fresh account.

If you are restricted, go to Account Quality in Meta Business Suite, read the reason, fix the cause, and request a review. Do not open several new accounts to get around a restriction; it usually makes things worse.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay for Facebook ads with bKash in Bangladesh?
Yes. Since 10 September 2026 businesses can add bKash as a payment method in their Meta ads account settings. If you do not see it yet, check what Meta shows in your Billing settings, as options can roll out gradually.
How do I run Facebook ads from Bangladesh without an international card?
Check your ad account’s Billing settings for local options such as bKash or prepaid funds. Avoid renting someone else’s card or ad account, because it often leads to disabled accounts.
Should my ad account be in BDT or USD?
Match the currency to the payment method you will use and the currency you report sales in. Local sellers usually prefer BDT; businesses selling abroad or paying by dollar card often prefer USD.
Is there VAT on Facebook ads in Bangladesh?
Tax on payments to foreign ad platforms has applied in Bangladesh since at least 2019, but the rates and rules change with budgets and depend on how you pay. Confirm the current rules with your accountant and your bank.
